Okay, so you can be lazy and just put 1.a, 2.b, etc. Or you can give me a little detail on each answer so we can get to know each other.

{Psst! Hint: This is *another* test and way for me to see if we can be friends. So choose wisely, young lady. Just a tip}.

Thanks for answering my quiz questions! I’ll get back to you soon and let you know what I’ve decided about the status of our friendship.

Fingers crossed!

Blogging: Why I Started the “Blessed Not Lucky” Blog

So. This is a fairly new blog, just a few months old and not many entries yet. I have lots of work to do – publishing posts and getting my blog to look the way I want it to – but I’m so happy to have gotten started!

I’ve actually been blogging since 2007 and have two other active blogs – one about my hobby and one for my work-at-home business (transcriber / blogger / virtual assistant).

I *love* blogging which brings together two of my favorite things to do . . . 1. Writing and 2. sharing about the things I love:

– photos
– music
– gratitudes
– writing
– blogging
– weight loss
– travel
– etc.

Obviously, those aren’t things I get to talk about much on my other blogs – because those are very focused on the topics at hand. I don’t like to mix in too much personal stuff on them because it dilutes their purpose.

But I keep finding myself frustrated that I can’t write or share about all my favorite things listed above. Dang.

So I decided to start THIS blog – “Blessed Not Lucky” – where I could talk about all that fun stuff. I also very much want to connect with other bloggers and blog readers.

Along with all this, I love to laugh about the absurdities of life and have a very sarcastic sense of humor. So we are gonna’ have us some fun!

My dream is for this blog to get better and better, to make some new friends, and to express myself in a more creative way than I’ve been able to in the past.

What’s in it for you? Well, I hope you enjoy reading what I share. I hope you feel blessed by my blog. I hope I make you laugh so hard that coffee shoots out your nose 😀

Wish me luck and I hope you’ll become a regular reader! Do we have anything in common? What types of things do YOU like to read about? I would absolutely LOVE IT if you’d leave a comment below . . .

Blogging: Would You Like to Join Me in a Blogging Challenge?

As you can see, this is a very new blog. I have 2 other established blogs about my hobby and my work – but I’ve started this one to be more personal. I’m going to write about ‘real life’ things, share some photos and thoughts, make you laugh, and have some great conversations with you.

But it all starts with readers, right? I need to get the word out and find some new friends 🙂 Hopefully, that’s you! I’d love to network with other bloggers and find some new blogs that *I* love to read. Maybe we can share ideas, support each other, and be bloggy friends! Maybe we can even do guest posts for each other, who knows? The sky’s the limit.

I found a cool blogging challenge that I hope will help me with all of the above. It’s FREE (that’s my favorite price!) and sounds like a lot of fun. It starts on October 1, 2014 and the goal is to post at least once per day through October 31. I figure even if I don’t meet that goal (hey, I get busy sometimes! LOL), I’ll still have a lot more blog entries than I would on my own. And you can sign up to receive daily blogging ideas and encouragement, not to mention interacting on Facebook and Twitter!

ultimate blog challenge

I’m familiar with Paul Taubman because I’ve learned so much about WordPress from him. I joined the opening webinar about UBC and Danni Ackerman seems awesome, too!

Doesn’t the Ultimate Blog Challenge sound fun! Whether you have an established blog – or a new one like mine – this challenge will hold you accountable for daily posting, gain you some readers/friends, and help your SEO {which means Google will love you more}.

Would you like to join me? If you’re here BECAUSE OF the UBC, will you please say “hi” in Comments? Thanks & I look forward to meeting you!

BnL Book Review: “Attachments” by Rainbow Rowell

I think a new book has been added to my “Top 20 Books of All Time” list. It’s “ATTACHMENTS” by Rainbow Rowell.

Book Review:

This was a book I couldn’t put down. I had a very busy weekend and lots of other things I was supposed to be doing. But I kept grabbing my Kindle and reading this book. To me, that’s the sign of a great one, yeah?

Here’s the book synopsis from Amazon:

“Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you . . . ”

Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It’s company policy.) But they can’t quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.

Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill can’t believe this is his job now- reading other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be “internet security officer,” he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.

When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can’t help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.

By the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself.

What would he say . . . ?

This book was written in 2011 and I’m, like, legit mad that I haven’t heard of it and read it until now. Grrr . . .

The story is unique, the characters SO well-written (I want to meet Lincoln’s mom – and eat her cooking!), and it has a main character you can love. Sure, Lincoln has his issues. At one point, I wanted to send him to the doctor for some depression meds. But he’s so stinkin’ likeable, you can’t help but root for him to figure it all out by book’s end.

The friendship between Beth and Jennifer, told entirely in e-mails, is touching and real. The sub-plots involving fighting against inevitable motherhood, being the band-boy’s girlfriend, and Lincoln’s varied friendships that sustain him are engaging and full of people you’d love to meet and have a coffee with someday.

And I laughed out loud. A lot.

This book wasn’t overly happy or overly sad, it was just real everyday life. I would highly recommend this book and am now seeking out other novels to read by RAINBOW ROWELL. Immediately after finishing “Attachments”, I downloaded “ELEANOR & PARK” and I’m sure “LANDLINE” will be next.

Book Review:

And I found her blog. And followed her on Twitter. Yep, I have become her “FANGIRL”. (Ugh, sorry! It had to be done).

If you’d like to read “Attachments” by Rainbow Rowell, you can find both the paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon, along with her other 3 novels. Currently, the Kindle versions other than “Landline” are under $5 – which I love because I’m cheap, LOL. But you know Amazon, that could change at any time.

Happy reading!

Dear Manufacturers of Ombre Sweaters, Jackets, and Tops:

For the love of all that is holy, PLEASE stop putting the light part of the ombre at the bottom and the dark part of the ombre at the top, like with THIS SWEATER:

I love – love- love ombre but I don’t own one single piece of ombre clothing, and this is why. It’s come to the point where I feel I have to say something.

As you can see on the model above, the light part of the ombre hits a lady right at her most vulnerable point: the stomach, hips, and thighs. If, like me and UNlike the skinny bee-yotch model above, you are W-I-D-E-S-T at the mid-section (c’mon, most American women are), then the light ombre just emphasizes that.

For these same women, our proudest area of achievement is probably our, ahem, bust area. So why in good golly’s name would you put the darkest part of the ombre there? The part we’re TRYING to emphasize?!?!?

I mean, this is Basic Fashion Design 101, people! We women learn this as teens, around the same time we learn that “horizontal stripes make you look wider; go vertical” and “camel toes are b-a-a-a-d!”. Light emphasizes, dark de-emphasizes. Duh.

. . . that I would never wear, because the lighter blue on the bottom is screaming, “Look at my tum-tum!! You know, my most unattractive body part! Go ahead, get a good look at it!”

I swear, a man must’ve designed both of these sweaters. Or a skinny Devil Woman.

So, dear clothing manufacturers who want us to buy your ombre sweaters, jackets, and tops, start making them correctly, with the dark part of the ombre on the bottom and the light part at the top. The world will be in balance and you will sell more clothes, I promise.

PS: You’re welcome.
